Caring, Sharing, Learning

Specialists

Here at Jindivick Primary we are very passionate about our music program. Each year we have two concerts (Soiree and End of Year Concert). These are great opportunities where students can showcase their skills and what they have been learning in music.

Jindivick Primary is a flagship Musical Futures school which means our philosophy is that anyone can learn the skills to play musical instruments. Students are first taught by listening and engaging with musical instruments through lots of experiences. Once students have an understanding of what they can hear, we then introduce them to the more formal components of playing music.

This way of teaching music enables all students to be successful and to develop their musical skills at their pace.

To support our strong musical program we also have instrumental lessons provided by … that families can engage to provide their children with instrumental lessons. These lessons are not funded by the school and families are encouraged to contact … if they wish their child to participate in instrumental lessons.

Visual Arts

In Visual Arts, students learn to communicate what they see, feel and think. Students experiment with different techniques and materials to express their own, inspired by the works of experienced artists. They learn about the role of the artist and relationships between the viewer and the artwork.

Performing Arts

We are very excited to include Performing Arts to our specialist program in 2024, which will complement our already established Music and visual Arts programs.

Jindivick Primary School believes that as part of the Victorian Curriculum, Performing Arts enables students to learn how to creatively, imaginatively and confidently express themselves through Dance, Drama and Music. By creating a safe and encouraging classroom environment, students are supported to explore their own ideas and reflect on the views of others.

Through Dance, students move their bodies to express ideas imaginatively. They create their own movement and learn about dance from their own and other cultures. Students use the elements of dance to explore choreography and performance, responding to their own and others’ dances using movement and other forms of communication.

Through Drama, students take on roles to explore and depict real and imagined worlds; learning to think, move, speak and act with confidence. This in turn helps them develop such skills as creativity, enquiry, verbal and non-verbal communication, empathy, self-confidence, cooperation and leadership.

Physical Education

Our PE is aligned with Victorian Curriculum and provides students with lots of opportunities to engage in physical education. There is a strong focus on building students’ awareness and skills of the events involved in Athletics with senior school students demonstrating their skills at the Athletics day. Students also develop their gross motor skills with units of work focusing on catching and throwing. The year culminates with the school Fun Run held at the picturesque Jindivick Cricket ground.

ICT

Jindivick has a wide variety of technology that is highly accessible for all students. Each week each class participates in an ICT class where students can have access to a class set of Apple desk tops, IPads and Netbooks. This ensures students are familiar with different operating systems and can develop the necessary skills to engage in the ever changing digital world. They also develop an understanding of being safe online and how to use technology in an appropriate manner.
